Roman Elizarov
My name is Roman Elizarov . Now I'm 19 years old. In 1994 I have
graduated from St.Petersburg Physics and Mathematics school no.30
and now I study in St.Petersburg Institute
of Fine Mechanics & Optics (Technical University),
Computer Technology Department.
My main interest is computers, it began, I think, since I was 13. Three
times I had participated in Russian olympiads in Informatics for schoolboys
(and girls, but there was not a lots of them) and all times I've got 1st
diploma (it was given for 1st to about 8th place among approximately 200
participants from the whole Russia each year). Two times after those Russian
olympiads I'd participated in
International Olympiads in Informatics , and with good results: in
IOI'94, Sweden I'd got 3rd place.
Now, in university I didn't give up this olympiad activity. I've started
to participate in the ACM Collegiate Programming Contests (ACM ICPC).
However, this is not competition of persons (like IOI) but it is competition
of teams. In October, 1994 Igor Sereda , Denis
Kislovsky and I had participated in the Eastern European Regional Contest in
Bucharest and we had got there 3rd place (among about 20 teams). In October
1995 Alexander Anikin, Denis Kislovsky and I had participated in The
NorthWestern European Regional Contest and we'd got there 1st place. That
victory allowed us to go to the Finals of this contest which was held in
Philadelphia (USA) but we weren't successful there - taking 17th place of 52
teams.
In December 1996 The NorthEastern European Regional Contest
was held
in St.Petersburg. Our team (named 'IFMO #1' and consisting of Denis
Kislovsky, Mark Sandler and myself) has got 1st place here and now we are
going to participate in the Finals again. Though it will be my last attempt
(according to the rules no one can participate in the Finals more than
twice).
